The following is a PowerPoint Presentation delivered by a student in my Intermediate Speaking and Listening (SL) class. This was a final product that was assessed by a CELCIS committee that did not include the instructor (Judith Buchanan). The result of the assessment lowers or raises the student’s classroom grade by half a grade.
The students were asked to find a piece of abstract art from their own culture, describe the painting, give information about the artist’s background and methods, share opinions of native-speaking students who viewed the painting, and reflect on how their own feelings about the painting changed as they became more informed.
All the students in this section passed their assessment with their Abstract Art Presentations and had their class grade increased by as a result.
